Strategy game chess and checkers from Djeco. The player develops a strategy to outwit his opponent's clever moves and thus win the game. Age: from 6 years. Number of players: 2. The game is played on a chessboard with 64 alternating light and dark squares. Attention: Set up the chessboard so that a bright field can always be seen in the bottom right corner. Each player has 16 pieces: 1 king, 1 queen, 2 bishops, 2 knights, 2 rooks and 8 pawns, which are set up at the start of the game as shown above. Attention: The queens are always placed on a field of their own color. Goal of the game: Capture the opponent's king: This is called checkmate. How the game works: The person who takes the light color is drawn: the person who gets it starts. Playing is mandatory, you can't pass. Each player moves their pawns one after the other. Drawing the figures (see schematic illustrations at the beginning of this booklet). A piece may never jump over another piece (exceptions apply to the knight). The KING is the main character of the game; his catch means losing the game! He only advances a single square in all directions and there is a special move for him: castling. The QUEEN advances as many squares as desired, in all directions. The TOWER draws an unlimited number of spaces vertically and horizontally. The RUNNER moves an unlimited number of squares diagonally. The KNOWING moves three squares: one or two squares horizontally (or vertically) and then in the other direction. It is also said that it looks like an ?L? moves.. The knight is the only piece that can jump over others. The FARMER always moves forward and can never retreat. He only moves one space per turn, unless he is still on his original space. In this case he can move two spaces further. Attention: To capture an opponent's figure, he moves one square diagonally. When he reaches the last row of the chessboard, he can transform into a queen, a rook, a bishop or a knight of the player's choice (so it is possible to have 2 queens). Taking checkmate: A piece is removed from the game when one of the opponent's pieces sits on the square on which it was standing. Except for the pawn, the pieces capture in the direction in which they move. The pawn takes diagonal and forward. Who wins? The one who puts the opponent's king in a position where he can no longer move: the king is then said to be CHECKMATE! The game is over. A chess game can also end in a draw.
