Each player has a placement board and 12 placement pieces in front of him. The dice are rolled and the hourglass is turned over. Everyone tries to fill their board with the parts given as quickly as possible. Whoever manages to do this shouts “Ubongo!” and is rewarded with gems. The winner is whoever has collected the most valuable gemstones at the end. And that's not necessarily the fastest! The game is so much fun that even after the hourglass runs out, unsuccessful players continue to work with the help of other players until they have solved their board. The rules are so simple that you can start playing straight away.

The KOSMOS principle also applies to Ubongo: full fun with and without an app! Players can have the rules explained to them using the optional KOSMOS explanatory app. And if someone gets stuck on a task, the app offers help with a solution. Thanks to the “living timer” that replaces the hourglass, players automatically know when the time to place is over. In addition, two times can be set so that, for example, adults have less time available than children playing along.
